Twenty-eight years after the Buddha’s parinirvāṇa, King Ja had seven extraordinary dreams. Many scriptures, including the Tantra of Entering Equality with the Buddhas, and a cubit-high image of Vajrapāṇi Buddha descended upon the roof of King Ja’s palace. The king made respectful offerings to them, prayed and formed aspirations, and came to comprehend the scriptural meaning of the Chapter of Vajrasattva. He practiced by relying upon this Buddha image and these scriptures for six months, whereupon he directly beheld Bodhisattva Vajrasattva, received his wisdom empowerment, and thoroughly comprehended the symbols and enlightened intent of the scriptures. They were then transmitted in succession to Gegelozha, Sanghalozha, Ubalazha, and Princess Gomadevi. All of them and their disciples attained the fruition of vidyādharas.
