At the same time, the five vidyādharas among gods, nāgas, yakṣas, rākṣasas, and humans gathered on the summit of Mount Malaya in Laṅkā. Calling the buddhas of the ten directions to mind, they lamented: “Alas, alas, in this world the sun of the Buddha’s sublime radiance has set; when will the darkness of the world be dispelled?” They uttered twenty-three lines of lamentation such as these and then wept in anguish. Because the time of the prophecy had arrived, Bodhisattva Vajrapāṇi transmitted the esoteric Dharma to the great vidyādharas on the summit of Mount Malaya. Through the power of this blessing, all the scriptures and tantras of Anuyoga descended into the forests of Mount Laṅkā in Sri Lanka, and the lineage of King Ja unfolded from there. In addition, in the Dhanakośa Garden of Oḍḍiyāna, Bodhisattva Vajrapāṇi transmitted to Garab Dorje the essence of the esoteric tantras, pith instructions, and the lineage of the mother tantra of Vajrakīlaya. This too is a teaching propagated by the great master Padmasambhava.
